The UK’s POWERful Women (PfW) and Nigeria’s Women in Energy Network (WIEN) have announced a new collaboration to help advance women in the two countries’ energy sector.
Meeting at the Energy Institute during WIEN’s visit to the UK in April, the two organizations agreed to work together to provide mutual support, resources, and lessons learned.
Eyono Fatayi-Williams, President of Women In Energy Network, said: “It was a pleasure to meet POWERful Women and to discuss growing our networks for women in energy. We are keen to learn from their experience of establishing and running an initiative in the UK and how they have worked with industry, government, and other organizations to increase gender diversity in the sector. We will also share our own experiences and insights, and we are excited about the prospects of collaboration in a number of areas.”
Georgina Worrall, Head of POWERful Women, said: “WIEN is a great initiative and I was fascinated to hear about their important work. POWERful Women is delighted to support WIEN as it expands and to share our experience and resources to help support gender diversity in the Nigerian energy sector in whatever capacity we can. We have much to learn from each other and look forward to working closely together.”
