This month, the Women in Energy Network (WIEN) Young Professionals gathered for an inspiring and transformational mentorship session on:
Personal Development & Building Resilience – Surviving and Thriving in a VUCA and BANI World.

Facilitated by our VP Upstream, Ifeoma Ukabiala, the session challenged participants to look beyond technical competence and examine the foundations of sustainable success.

• ✅ Personal development is the root; professional success is the fruit.
• ✅ Resilience is not about “pushing through.” It is the ability to adapt, recover, learn, and grow stronger through challenges.
• ✅ In a world defined by Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity, Brittleness, Anxiety, Non-linearity, and Incomprehensibility, our greatest competitive advantage is our ability to continuously learn and evolve.
• ✅ Emotional Intelligence is no longer optional. It is a leadership superpower.
• ✅ Your career growth depends not only on technical excellence but also on visibility, sponsorship, relationships, and personal branding.
• ✅ Purpose is resilience infrastructure. When your “why” is strong, setbacks become stepping stones rather than stopping points.

One of the most powerful reminders from the session was:

“Your career is not your calling. Your career is the vehicle. Your calling is the destination.”

As young professionals in the energy industry, we must intentionally invest in our:
